I have been a little radio silent lately, so I thought I would give you a bit of an update. I knew 2022 would be a year of transitions, but nothing could have prepared me for just how many. Unfortunately, we had extended family health emergencies and lost John’s mom this summer. In addition, we sent our daughter to college this fall, which hit me much harder than I expected. We are also now assisting John’s dad in downsizing and moving into a senior apartment. So things are slowly coming back into a new normal for us as the year winds down.

When I started The Roaming Yeti at the beginning of the year, I had a very set goal, but if this year has taught me anything, it is to listen to the universe and make the needed changes. I had the romantic view of weekend getaways and trips, but that isn’t the reality for me or, frankly, many of us. And that is ok.

Also, I like many other things and activities outside of travel, and I want to learn new things, so I am going to expand the focus of The Roaming Yeti a bit. I want to normalize roaming our neighborhoods in between roaming the world. Let’s find small adventures every day and not just wait for the big ones.

I want this to become an online community where we learn and share and have permission to suck at something when we begin something new. Let me say that again – at Roaming Yeti, we all have permission to suck when we start something new. I want us to support each other and share what makes us who we are.

I have always felt a bit like a misfit that doesn’t “fit in,” but the more I talk to people, the more I realize many of us share this feeling of being a misfit. I am ready to lean in and embrace what makes me a misfit, and I hope you join me as I explore this next chapter.

There will still be heavy doses of travel topics because I find people’s travel stories fascinating and love learning about new places. Still, I plan to explore and learn more about food and drink, hobbies, entertainment, and lifestyle topics.

I hope you join me on this ride, maybe learn something new, and watch this Gen Xer make a fool of herself from time to time. So are you joining my band of yetis? I want to hear from you and what we can learn together. Are you ready? Let’s get out there and roam!
