Snapshots & Stories is part travel journal, part photo essay, and a little love letter to curiosity.
On our trip to LA, we took the Warner Bros. Studio Tour, which I highly recommend—there’s something for everyone. As I was scrolling through my camera roll from that day, I realized these weren’t the best photos ever taken. But they are some of my favorites, because of the stories and memories behind them.
So here are a few snapshots—and the little moments that made them special.
Even Parking Lots Have Stories
Yes, I took two pictures of parking lots during the tram tour.
One is Aaron Sorkin’s parking spot, and the other is the exact lot from a very funny and memorable scene in The Studio (no spoilers, but if you know, you know).
And yes—we recognized it before the guide pointed it out.
Best “Wait, Is That From…?” Moment
As we drove past rows of golf carts and studio vehicles, these two caught our attention:
- A golf cart labeled Continental Studios (from The Studio)
- A food truck from Shrinking
We spotted them before anyone said a word—and got that satisfying confirmation that yes, we were right.
If you have Apple TV, do yourself a favor and watch both The Studio and Shrinking. They’re brilliant.
Best Transformation
This next set didn’t look like much at first. But that’s the magic.
When fully dressed, it becomes the bar where the teachers from Abbott Elementary hang out.
It’s wild to see how a space with no ceilings and blank walls turns into something so familiar with just a little set dressing, lighting, and a boom mic or two.
Studio trickery at its finest.
It Still Doesn’t Work
Seeing the recreated Big Bang Theory stairwell was a fun surprise.
For 12 seasons, that elevator was broken—a quiet inside joke that played out every time the characters hiked up those stairs.
And looking at those doors, I swear I could hear Sheldon knocking:
“Penny… Penny… Penny…”
Biggest Fangirl Moment
I already mentioned this in the podcast episode, but I’ll say it again: Seeing the Abbott Elementary set was my absolute favorite.
This picture was snapped from the moving tram (thank goodness I was on the right side!). I watch this show religiously—it’s hilarious, heartfelt, and hits differently when you grew up in a family full of teachers and school administrators.
Total fangirl moment. No regrets.
The Warner Bros. Studio Tour is full of big moments—but the little details stuck with me the most.
Not just what we saw, but how it made us feel.
These weren’t just sets or props—they were reminders of why we fall in love with stories in the first place.
